I’ve paid close attention to your career on and off the court for some time. Often I’ve found myself quite frustrated and downright angry with how the mainstream has attempted to paint you in a villainous light. Can curiosity and questions ever be truly seen as evil? I’d be lying if I said I didn’t see this day coming, where you would be given an ultimatum. Where you would be told to comply or surrender the game you love altogether. I am beyond infuriated by today’s news that Brooklyn Nets GM Sean Marks publicly stated they will not allow you to “play or practice until you are eligible to be a full participant”. Basically a coercion into vaccination compliance. I wish I had more influence over the other players to rise up with you. Shame on the brothers across our industry, that do carry such influence, but choose to think only of themselves. For it is in these false claims of duty to team and society, that they now cede the ground for neo-slavery. I guess that’s the curse of our plight as Black people in America; as Free People everywhere. I write this letter to express my appreciation for your courage and support of your position. The sacrifice of a few clears a path of freedom for many. With that I tell you stand firm and hold the line.
This is my second letter to you, so you already know I like to write them in a personal context. I do this to maintain a serious level of genuineness and authenticity in a world overrun by fraudulence. The people need to see a real dialogue maybe more than anything else. So why write an open letter and not consider the audience? I’d like to share a moment of clarity I had earlier today while reading the latest news — I can now let one of my own dreams die… and there is a profound sense of strength in the heartache.
I had this feint hope the Mental Health conversation would reach a point that allowed me to be vindicated and resume my NBA career. I can now say with an absolute surety that my days of playing in the NBA are done. Yes, it’s part and parcel of their corruption but it’s also my own morality that draws a hard line. If I was currently in the NBA, I would’ve certainly stood next to you in denial of vaccination. On a scientific basis regarding Covid-19 and natural immunity, but also on principle, which we’ll discuss in a moment. In that hypothetical scenario where I held the line with you, I certainly would’ve been recasted out without any hesitation. Sadly this is what we’ve come to expect as normal and acceptable for someone tagged as “disruptive” in any industry. A person who is said to carry more risk than reward for the overall good of an institution. You know this to be propaganda. It is of the same sort that anchors our society. Although I’m sure the league and many others are currently trying to persuade you with every deadly sin they can conjure, a similar line has already been drawn for you. The truth is you’re just not allowed to question the decrees of this establishment anymore. Not in any real way with any possibility of real change. Not from the inside or anywhere near the center. Well, I send word from the realm of basketball exile… Should you be successful holding the line in this small but pivotal battle, it will be a monumental victory. It will be a moment of true glory. The shadow continues to spread and with it, a growing need for significant individuals to take a real stand against tyranny.
I now know that my fight with the NBA was never really about Mental Health at all. Anyone with a sound understanding of this global corporatocracy, can see how exile would’ve befallen me for any outspokenness about a number of issues. George Floyd, Jeffery Epstein, The Uyghurs and last but not least these unconstitutional vaccine mandates. My fight with the NBA, like yours, is a bigger spiritual war that is disguised by industrialization and commercialization. A spiritual war where the enemy has subtly weaponized greed, vanity and the vulnerability to scrutiny that lives inside us all. Ironically these weapons live in a place that would best be described as mental health. A place where the greatest drug known to man (social media) has sunk in it’s teeth. I’ll say it again for the person who may be here for a single moment because I believe it is still the most important point to make — Mental health is another way to say the human condition. The place where mind, body and spirit converge into our perceivable existence. This weaponization relies on 2 distinct modalities of fear; rejection and isolation. It’s the same isolation George Floyd felt out on 38th and Chicago. The same isolation people who support your position feel when being censored from the conversation. The same isolation so many feel who had to sit in a doctors office, forced to take a vaccine they’re unsure about in order to maintain their livelihood. The same isolation working class people feel everyday as they scrape and claw to find prosperity in a neofeudalist economy. The same isolation The Free People have come to know so well in the shadows of this establishment. The isolation they now hang over your head like a guillotine.
However, some of us are proud that you’ve fought this never ending cycle of capitulation. Some of us respect your intuition to question what is treated as unquestionable. Some of us are on the edge of our seat, holding tight, hoping you can breakthrough the glass ceiling of this status quo. As the rejection pours in and the isolation starts to feel heavier, just remember you have been made to feel this way, in the disconnected vacuum of celebrity. There is no gravity to logic or reason in that vacuum, only sin. If the worst should happen and the NBA doesn’t soften their position on vaccination… a world awaits you where NBA standing, has little bearing on your ability to effect change or profess truth. In this world God has the final say. He is the ultimate adjudicator of life. Adam Silver, Mayor De Blasio, Joe Biden, Klaus Schwab… are all at HIS mercy. The greatest trick played on The Free People is the notion that our credibility, worth and humanity are inextricably linked to the designs of this system. Black men must rise up now and lead. Let’s use our unique position to resist this degradation. Not affirm it and empower it as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has suggested. The time has come for you, as it will for many of us, to accept that your journey has reached a fork in the road. To take the righteous path, sometimes it’s necessary to part ways with dreams manifested in the throes of corruption. Dreams that have been dangled before us like a mobile in a small child’s crib. Which actually functions as a ball and chain. When one matures the crib is naturally seen for what it really is… A prison… and the mobile above it, an appeasement for the truth. The truth being… yes the crib is safe, but life in the world beyond it is much more fulfilling and growing out of the crib is your destiny.
Your intuition to challenge the current scope of governance is right. Your skepticism is also warranted scientifically. Something dishonest has taken place with this pandemic from the very beginning. There’s a giant elephant in the room regarding our scientific culture and Medical Industrial Complex as a whole. All of which make the suppression of data on natural immunity a flagrant violation of hippocratic oath and fiduciary responsibility. But first and foremost, this suppression justifies extreme caution. Our beloved scientific method is being undermined. Even if our worst fears about this vaccine are later proven to be untrue, that won’t render those fears unwarranted or misplaced. Certainly not as it pertains to these vaccine mandates. On principal alone, as Free People, we can never revert back to a society where the bodies of any given workforce are effectively owned by their employers. Especially in a time where the top end of corporate power looks to industrialize us away from human work altogether. These are the ideologies of a system predicated toward slavery. As Black men, our intuition around this matter is salient. The experience residing in our DNA is wisdom for everyone. Times change and with it, so does the face of exploitation, lies and evil. All people are fit for a number in the new slave system; regardless of their race, religion or irreplaceable talent.

P.S. I held off with the long drawn out scientific arguments and recantation of timelines because you and I both know there’s little to be had in doing so. There are 4 groups of people now, the powers that be… those who see… those that are willing to see… and those who aren’t. For some, no amount of evidence would be enough to convince them. We know that because that amount of evidence has already been shown. Their allegiance isn’t to logic, it’s to the status quo and the false sense of security that lies therein. We’ve staved off the revolt as long as possible. Now we must rally together, count our resources and prepare a battle plan. We’re at war Kyrie and we’re running late.
